1. Sun Rand Redemption Booking Conditions
1.1. Bookings cannot be made more than 6 months in advance of arrival and must include a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night.
1.2. Southern Sun Timeshare redemption bookings cannot be made more than 30 days prior to arrival.
1.3. "Topping up" allows you to accumulate 50% of the Sun Rands required for a free holiday and then pay for the balance in cash on check-in at the hotel.
1.4. Sun Rands can only be redeemed at participating hotels.
2 General
2.1. All customer related queries should be directed to the Southern Sun Customer Contact Centre on
0861 44 77 44.
2.2. While you can book up to 9 rooms online, Sun Rands will only be earned on the room occupied by the Frequent Guest member. This also applies to nights qualifying for upgraded membership status.
2.3. Southern Sun Middle East, StayEasy by Southern Sun, Formule 1 and Formule Inn do not participate in the Frequent Guest programme.
2.4. No travel agent commission is payable on any Sun Rand redemption booking.
2.5. Sun Rands are earned at participating hotels on qualifying rates only. Please enquire at the Southern Sun Customer Contact Centre, online - or on check-in to ensure that you will be staying at a qualifying rate.
2.6. Unless otherwise stated, all bookings and benefits are subject to availability.
2.7. All bookings are subject to existing terms and conditions prevailing at the time, including meal and children's policies.
2.8. Sun Rands are not transferable from one Frequent Guest to another or to any third party and may be used only for the benefit of the card holder and his or her immediate family (spouse and children). Your Frequent Guest card is for your use only. Misuse of the card can result in its cancellation, forfeiture of accumulated Sun Rands, and any other action considered appropriate by Southern Sun at Southern Sun's sole discretion.
2.9. Frequent Guest benefits are applicable only when the member personally occupies the room. When special offers allow for booking more than one room, the Frequent Guest member must accompany the party in order to receive special rates and any other benefits. Sun Rand benefits (if applicable) apply to a maximum of two rooms.
2.10. Hotels reserve the right to verify the cardholder's identity to ensure the cardholder receives all applicable benefits.
2.11. Southern Sun cannot be held responsible for correspondence sent to you, which is lost or delayed in the mail.
2.12. Lost, stolen, or damaged cards must be reported to Southern Sun Customer Contact Centre. A fee will be charged for replacement cards.
2.13. Should you misplace or forget your confidential PIN number, call the Southern Sun Customer Contact Centre. Proof of identity in the form of your identity number will be required when requesting a duplicate PIN number. Or you can go to Forgot Password on the home page on southernsun.com.
2.14. Any government taxes levied will be for the member's account.
2.15. The Company reserves the right to request positive identification of the cardholders well as presentation of their valid membership card.
2.16. Southern Sun reserves the right to reverse any transaction that is subsequently found to be not in accordance with Southern Sun's stated terms and conditions (as amended from time to time). Southern Sun Hotel Interests (Pty) Ltd also reserves the right to call for copies of hotel accounts as evidence of amounts paid and Sun Rands credited, either before or after the Sun Rands are credited or redemptions made, and these may be subject to audit.
2.17. The Frequent Guest programme is valid only at participating Southern Sun Hotel Interests (Pty) Ltd hotels in Africa. The participating hotels may be changed from time to time and such changes will be published under Southern Sun terms and conditions on this website.
2.18. The Company reserves the right to amend or discontinue this programme or any part thereof at any time without prior notice to members.
2.19. By making use of the Frequent Guest Programme, guests acknowledge that they are aware of the conditions of use. Benefits will be awarded only on presentation of a valid Frequent Guest membership Card. For queries and further conditions of use, call the Southern Sun Customer Contact Centre.
2.20. Southern Sun and participating hotels and resorts are not liable for any omissions, acts, or defaults made by any of the Programme Partners.
2.21. As a member of the Frequent Guest programme, you hereby waive all claims against Southern Sun arising from your membership of this programme and with respect to the use of facilities, services, and purchases from any Programme Partner.
2.22. Benefits are applicable/ granted once you are in receipt of a valid Frequent Guest Card.
2.23. Stays on certain volume rates (including Discovery Vitality), long stays and as a timeshare owner do not count towards tier upgrades.
2.24. Benefits listed herein are only applicable to individual Frequent Guest cards.
2.25. No benefit may be redeemed for value or otherwise exchanged.
2.26. Employees of Southern Sun may participate in the Frequent Guest programme for Programme Partner benefits only, but may not earn Sun Rands at participating hotels.
2.27. Rates quoted for South African Hotels are in South African Rands (ZAR) and are available for South African Residents Only.
